Frustrations of Wedding Dress Shopping

  1. When you walk into a store in August and tell them you are getting married in January, and they basically make you feel bad that you don’t already have a dress and there is no way you will really get what you want in time. But seriously, why does it need to get tried on a year before the wedding?! I had only started dating him a year ago!
  2. How expensive all the dresses are. I really want to get a nice dress, that makes me feel pretty, that isn’t an absurd amount of money. I wish that wasn’t so hard.
  3. Why is it that every dress with “modest sleeves” is low cut in the front and/or back? How is that a modest dress?! And then going back to cost — how much more will I have to pay to build up the dress or get a jacket of sorts? Or if I do go to a modest dress shop, the dresses are even more expensive than the regular stores.
  4. As I am looking for dresses, I’m in the US for (hopefully) only the next two weeks. So do I try to find a dress here? Do I say ok if I don’t and try to find one in the UK? What if I don’t find one there?! What if I don’t find any dress? And then I have no clue where to shop or where to get things fixed?!
  5. And maybe the most frustrating of all — how does this make me feel so horrible about my body?! I am not a toothpick and never have been. I am an hourglass, and a nice one, in my opinion. For the most part, I feel very comfortable and happy in my body and the way I look. In trying on these dresses, I have never felt so unattractive, so ugly, so fat.
